Well now that my numners were terrible, I decided to switch from guggul lipid to polocnsonal. THis really is my last option since I really have tried almost everything out there. I need to know if anyome has had success on this combination. I am taking 20mgs of polico. and 1500 of non flush niacin . I am just so frustrated trying to find the right combination and besides that, it is so expensive buying all of these supplements too. Any advice would be appreciated Sarah

In early January, I began eating oatmeal with 1-2 tbs. flaxseed meal mixed in every day. I also took 20 mg. policosonol. Two months later, my total chol decreased by 7, LDL by 6, Trigs by 28, and HDL rose by 5. They might seem like a modest changes, but diet and exercise alone did nothing in the previous 5 months.
I think the combination was really beginning to help; unfortunately, I now realize I had undiagnosed hypothyroidism, and the flaxseed is a goitrogen and a cyanogen. The upshot is I poisoned myself with it. Bottom line, if you decide to try it, make sure your thyroid function is up to par. In otherwise healthy people, it's a beneficial food supplement.

Sarah 101: We have been taking the policosanol and
non flush niacin and my husband was very faithful
with it, but he has had some "not so good" feelings
with it and has decided to give them, both, up. They
are not helping; and I have already given up. I
know your feeling though. Not sure what to do!

Midwest1 --- According to recent studies, untreated hypothyroidism will cause an elevation in your cholesterol numbers.

Cordyceps is supposed to be good for 17 percent. There is a clinical study on the internet. I have taken this for about 4 weeks, but I do not yet have new test results.

Thank you for your response, Clover. I only suspected I might be hypoT after I started eating the flaxseed. My symptoms got so much more profound while I was eating it, I began researching and found out all the symptoms were connected, including the high LDL and the toxic flax reaction.
