My daughter has not been sleeping well for over a year now. Recently I took her to an ENT doctor and he said her adenoids were blocking over 90% of her airway and that her tonsils were rather large too.

So, we had them removed 9 days ago, thinking that this would fix the sleeping issues. However, they have gotten sooo much worse. I am so discouraged and just don't know what to do from here.

I know that she may still be recovering from the surgery and that things may still be swollen, but many people that I've talked to say that they slept better within a few days of the surgery.

I'm just wondering how long it has taken other people's children to start sleeping well.

Do I just need to give it more time or do I need to start looking again for possible causes of the sleeping problems?

She usually has a night terror within and hour and a half of falling asleep, and then after that she is waking up crying every half hour to hour. She is so sleep deprived as are we all. I just don't know how much longer we can all live on this little sleep.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Oh goodness, I think you just need to give it more time. Even after a vacation with my son, it takes him days to get back to his normal sleeping schedule. A vacation is nothing near what your child just went through. The hospital, surgery, pain, etc. I would think has been a bit traumatic and it is going to take some time. Hang in there!

My son (he is 3) is scheduled for his T&A on the 10th. He snores and his tonsils are very large. He is not well rested the majority of the time. I am hoping that after this surgery he will be able to get a good night sleep. Will let you know what happens. My daughter has not been sleeping well for over a year now. My 4 year old had T&A and tubes put in her ears. She snores worse now than before she had it done. I also thought it was supposed to get better. Hang in there and hopefully after a couple of weeks things will get better.
