My mother has high cholesterol and takes Lipitor. She has a younger brother who also have high cholesterol. However, I had a cholesterol test a couple of months ago and found out that mine is 212 which is borderline.
Is having Borderline High Cholesterol dangerous or have a huge risk to heart disease as much as the High Cholesterol or not? I have a couple of mild heart defects (one of them was repaired when I was a month old, called Patent Ductus Arterious. The others are Mitral Valve Prolapse with mild insuffic. and a bicuspid aortic valve)...so that is why I am just wondering.

my doctor says high cholesterol is hereditary. Talk to a doctor about your concerns. He'll probably recomend ways to lower it without medication right now.
