Anyone can have a reaction to just about anything so what might be the case for one person is not necessarily the case for another.
To answer your question more directly, the first BP med I was put on years ago was Cardizem. I was fine for a week and then broke out in an itchy rash which eventually spread over my entire body... not a fun time!
BUT, you could very well be quite fine with it.
Hopefully, you'll have no side effects or allergic reaction. Unless you've reacted to a drug in the same class, sometimes the only way to know is to try it.

I agree with Edelweiss. People are allergic to just about anything. Because all drugs are toxins, the chance of an allergic reaction is greater. Interestingly, I read that some people showing an allergic reaction to a drug should not feel discouraged from trying that same drug, or drugs from the same drug class again at some point in the future. They might be very surprised to find they can tolerate the drug the second time around. I would imagine most of us would be somewhat hesitant to try again. :)
I had an allergic reaction (which included the ugly, painful rash Edelweiss mentions) to Diovan, an ARB, within a week of starting it. After I informed my doctor about my multiple allergy symptoms, the dose was doubled. (????) My pharmacist was speechless. Of course, doubling the dose only made the allergy symptoms more severe. When the larger dose didn't work, I was asked to sample Micardis -also an ARB- with the exact same results. There is one remaining ARB -Avapro- I'd be willing to try in the future.
