Hi to All:

And thank you in advance for any advice you can give to me.

I have just received a call from my doctor's office with these results:

Total: 229
Triglycerides: 78
HDL: 56
LDL: 156
Risk Factor: 4.1

The nurse told me that this is boredline high and I need to control it with diet and they will test again next year.

My father died at 41 years old from a massaive heart attack and my mother has high colesterol that is being controlled with Lipitor. So I am a little worried here.

What do you guys think of these results?

And what is the best diet program to use to control this?

Again thank you for any information/advice.

I'll give you what the counts should be per my clinic.

Total cholesterol
<200

HDL (good Cholesterol}
>45 for men >55 for women

LDL
<130

triglycerides
<200
As far as diet goes I wasn't told about any diet. My doctor says cholesterol has to do with hereditary. Diet only lowers it about 10 points. Try lowering your fat intakes. Eat more fiber and exercise. If this doesn't lower it you may have to go on medication. I'm on Zocor and it's helped me. Good Luck.
