Hi my name is Kristen. Almost a month and a half ago I was diagnosed with herpes. I contracted it from my boyfriend of 3 years who is now my ex. I has HSV-1. I have met another guy who is interested in dating me and I did do the smart thing and tell him as soon as I could before the relationship got to serious. He is a real man about this he wants to get a better understanding of it and so do I. I have done a lot of research but what I'm looking for I havent found. I know I cannot have sex which I do not plan to do for a years to come. what are limitaions on sexual activity like if I kiss some one can i spread it. I know it can be spread through skin/ sexual fluid contact and when an outbreak occurs. I want to go about this smart in my future relationships and not put anyone else through like my ex did to me. I caught HSV-1 about three years ago. At first I was devastated, I had it on my genitals & lips. Was having outbreaks about once a month at first. I started taking valtrex 500 mg once a day & this stuff works wonders for me. I have been in a relationship for a couple years now & my girl friend never caught it yet. Theirs always a risk that you could spread it put you have to let your partner know. If he truely loves you he will understand. It's been over a year since I had a outbreak & when it occurs its real minor. When a outbreak occurs I increase to 1000MG a day for 3 days & its gone in a week. It doesn't bother me that I have it now since its under control.
