I'm a 32 year old female who has been experiencing hair loss for about the last 2 years. I've been devestated by this and there are days I don't even want to leave the house because I feel so ugly. I was trying to figure out if anything in my diet has lead to this and I remembered that 2 years ago was when I started drinking A LOT of Crystal Light (Peach Tea flavor). I'm talking a gallon every other day. Crystal Light has a lot of the artifical sweetener "Aspartame" in it. I did an internet search and turns out there are studies that link Aspartame with a wide range of POSSIBLE health issues - hair loss/thinning being one of them. Thought everyone would like to know this and maybe do a little of investigating on your own if you have the same problem as I. I am throwing out anything in my house that has "aspartame" in it!

I don't touch anything with artificial sweetner in it as i've read a lot of 'supposed' side effects. I don't like the taste of it. I'd rather have real sugar in my products, but only in moderation, eat healthy and do some exercise.
Could possibly be that your hair shedding is linked to aspartame, but have you had a full iron study done, also a full thyroid test? How are your hormones? If you are low in vitamin D, B12 and low in iron these will cause hair shedding.
