View Full Version : Sporadic High BP

I am so puzzled. I can wake up to low/normal pressure and for no apparent reason, at times, I feel weird and take my pressure only to find it rises to extremely high and scary numbers. At that point I take 1/2 propranoprol (which I have for another reason) and a half of a small amount of Xanax and within maybe an hour I'm back down.

What could cause this elevation? Last night it happened while I was watching tv and not particular worried or stress about anything. But I did feel it creep onto me.

Is this considered high blood pressure with medication daily? I would almost say no, because generally the readings fall into the normal category.

What's going on with me? Female - 59 y/o - 10 lbs overweight with diabetes (not medicated yet.)
