I could be sitting doing nothing and all of a sudden I feel my heart beat harder with a general feeling of nervousness coming over me. Onto feelings of pins and needles throughout neck, arm, legs, sometimes trunk of body. Slight dizziness. Worried this could be heart related. What do you think?

Most likely it is an adrenaline rush, but for your peace of mind, you should just go get a physical and maybe an EKG. If everything is okay with that and you know you are okay, the next time it happens you will be able to handle it.

Anxiety causes a lot of adrenaline rushes for me. It could even be a subconscious thought that I am not aware of (example - seeing a commercial for a dentist on television and that could trigger a subconscious dentist fear that brings on the rush).

Do get checked out just to be sure. Also, discuss with your doctors any medications you are on and what side effects they may be causing.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

this is how i feel when i get a panic attack. they can come out of nowhere... its your mind doing things to you! and you don't even know it. a couple months ago, i was sitting at lunch with a coworker and BOOM it just came out of nowhere. they can really surprise you.

but yes, go to the doctor and double check. if its anything major, they will be able to pick up on that stuff. usually heart stuff is aggravated by movement/exertion not stationary.

Thanks Johnson....I am wondering if you get this attack how long does it last. With me it could be over an hour. That uneasy, edgy feeling. I have been to doctor and have had EKG and Echocardiagram. All was fine then.
