So my girlfriend started her period on june 28th and began taking Femcon Fe on june 29th. The pills say to use backup protection for 7 days unless she started the pills the first day of her period. We had sex on July 6th for about five minutes before having to stop...we didn't get to finish. Would the birth control have taken effect by then? I figure that since she had 8 pills in her system (Sunday morning to Sunday morning the following week), we should be protected. Am I right?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Maybe, but why didnt she follow directions and start the day of? I'm not sure if its any less effective if she started a day late. I really dont know if one day is a big deal or not, but i have read that the first pill of the first pack is the most important.

Her doctor said to start it on the sunday after her period started. Also, the directions which came with the pill confirmed this, saying to use backup protection for seven days until the pill came into effect. Since we were past that seven days mark (she had actually taken 8 pills by then), we should be safe right? I mean the only thing which could cause her to get pregnant would be precum, but since I didn't previously ejaculate, we shouldn't have to worry about sperm being in it...I don't know, I THINK that we're safe, but I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance from somebody who knows a little more about the subject.
Thanks again!!

I didn't look at the calendar, so I didn't know the day after was Sunday. If that's the case, then she's fine.

Ok, great! Also, since this is the birth control forum, maybe someone can answer this as well... Since it's her first time on birth control, neither of us know what to expect when she hits her inactive pills. Will she start bleeding immediately that day or will it take some time? What do most women experience during those pills?
