The mood swings were most likely caused by the fact that birth control pills deplete many of the B vitamins. Try taking a B complex vitamin every day with your next pill, this should help a lot. Also, triphasic pills, like OTC, with different hormone levels all month, tend to be harder on the emotions (in some people) than the monophasic pills with the same level of hormones all month. Nausea or feeling sick is a hit or miss side effect, some people get it and some don't. As for the acne, I'd look for a pill that's low in androgens (male hormones), like Ovcon-35.
