If you do not want to drink red wine (recommended) or change to using EVOO, then drop the 2gms a day of fish oil, and instead take 1gm Neptune Krill oil. Very expensive.
The EPA and DHA in fish oil are in the form of triglycerides.
By weight, Neptune Krill Oil is comprised of around 30 percent EPA and DHA and 40 percent phospholipids, mostly in the form of phosphatidylcholine.

A daily one gram dose of NKO has been proven to increase HDL on average from 57.2 mg/dL to 82.4 mg/dL (a 44 percent rise) in a 12-week, double-blind, randomized study. (Lower base figures are not mentioned.)

It's your choice my friend. I have already made mine and feel better for it.

Taffyboyo,
Welcome back! Looks like you arrived back from holiday early.
I wanted to address the above comment you made a bit back and ask you what was your choice? I think "namelessme" said he tried the krill oil once, at 2.0 grams/daily for 2 months, then 1.2 grams/daily for 3 thereafter. No changes in HDL levels for him.

I might also try adding Curcumin supplements to raise the HDL.

Hi Mayor,

Actually I'm swinging in my hammock between two steel poles on a next to deserted beach, with my laptop in one hand and a double Bacardi and coke in the other.....Jealous??
No, only kidding, only went to Gozo (Not too far from Crete actually, should have got you a couple of bottles of Extra Virgin (duty free):)) for ten days. Now relaxing at home before I start all over again, waiting for the next break.

Her indoors (the boss) has, like Connie tried various concoctions to raise her HDL. In the end she found that EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) poured and mixed with all our salads and daily dose of 'oat bran' worked for her, but not for me in raising HDL.

As Lenin once said on this forum, he preferred the wine, as do I. Like yourself I still have one of three kids still at home, who unfortunately scrounges my red wine money.
Personally, I'm happy with my ratios, as you should be with yours.

So if you want an oily brown skin, go for the 'evoo' and curcumin. It may even raise your HDL.;)

taffyboyo,

Just found some EVOO from Crete in a 3 liter tin can for $40 USD shipped to my door. That would be the equivalent of 6-500 ml. bottles.
Could I also just swallow a few tablespoons of this per day to help?

YAK!!!!!!
If your brave enough.

PS: Mayor, $40 sounds extremely expensive. Is it a gold plated tin?
Can't you get the Greek mainland Evoo locally instead of spending your little one's pocket money?

Actually it was $30 USD for the EVOO and $10 to ship it. That really is not bad considering $5 per 500 ml for just the oil. Besides you got me going on the Crete thingy and now I can't let it gooooooo...................

P.S. Little does she know yet but my little one's pocket money is going into a college fund.
