hope i never got a pounding heart rate after taking xanax, it would calm my heart rate. maybe your still having anxiety with that dose, or maybe you should get checked out, excuse my spelling but anxiety and (tackacardia )can go together. when i first started taking xanax i also took toprel ( beta blocker, blood pressure, irregular heart rate)for about a month to help with my racing heart. talk to your doc and see what he or she says. good luck and take care hollygirl33

I haven't noticed that when taking Xanax. Infact, Xanax has been one of the most user friendly drugs I have ever taken. It just doesn't last very long (I believe my Dr said it has about a 4-5 hours span of effectiveness). I have heart palpatations as one of my most annoying symptoms of my GAD. No matter what I take sometimes I can't get them under control. I have been tested for any heart related issues and nothing has turned up. It's amazing how our bodies are affected by anxiety. How long have you been on xanax?

Maybe you should call your Dr and ask them what they advise you to do. Tell them you are not sure you want to mix the two medications. I hope you get things resloved.
