I have herpes and my partner does not. I have not had an OB or symptoms for many years. We would like to become sexualy active and understand that condoms are not 100% protection for him. He is still at risk if the skin in the genital area touches. How doe we keep that from happening?

Thank you,

J

Hey! My BF has it and I don't. To try and limit exposing to him AS MUCH as you can, take daily meds. It limits the shedding I'm told. Of course during actual outbreaks dont have sex and it is highly likely he won't catch it from you. Men are only like 10% likely to catch it anyway so taking daily meds to limit shedding the virus and refraining during OBs will be your best bet. I have been with my partner 2 years and still am H free.

Hi Muneca

May I know where you got the stats that mentioned that men only had 10% chance of catching it.

I'm sorry if that sounds offending but i really want to know. Thanks.

Condoms suck.

If your boyfriend loves you and wants to be with you, he should be ok to have sex with you without a condom. If you are in love with each other and in it for the long term - what difference does it make if you both have herpes?

I have herpes and have been having unprotected sex with women for 10 years. They know I have it and they know I take medications to reduce the risk of transmission.

Wearing a condom only provides a false sense of security. When you have sex, is the only part of your boyfriend's body that touches you is a condom covered penis? Of course not, so you are living a lie thinking the condom is protecting him.

Given the choice of condoms/sex and no sex, I choose no sex. I can't even keep it up with a condom on. There is no sensation for me.

On top of that - what about oral sex? You don't get any of that?

People freak out too much about herpes. Eat right, exercise, take vitamins and meds and life can be normal - sex too.
