Hey, I hope this helps you, I had the same problem for a LONG TIME, and finally came across this somewhere on the net. (Wish I could remember where so that I could give them credit!)
Get some head and shoulders shampoo, or any kind of dandruff shampoo, it doesn't have to name brand (I was getting those sample bottles for 99 cents in the sample section of the store)- When you take a shower use it to wash your bellybutton out, and then rinse with water. It might burn the first few times you do it but, as it starts to heal it won't happen anymmore. Then use any kind of over the counter hydeocortisone cream and put it on your bellybutton with a q-tip after you dry off (don't forget to dry out your bellybutton well!)
I can't tell you that it works over night, but you should start to see a difference after a week or so. The IMPORTANT thing is, do NOT stop this routine as soon as it starts to clear up, I waited about a month AFTER my bellybutton seemed "normal" again before I stopped- and it's been fine ever since! Like I said before, I really hope this helps you, I know what a pain, and how embarrassing this is!!!
