My daughter is scheduled for her 4th endoscopy on July 21. She is a very anxious little girl and worries way too much for someone her age. She has had 4 endoscopies before the age of 3 and is scheduled to have another one. My initial plan was I was not going to tell her until that morning when we were driving there but I fear doing that will make the long drive into boston one heck of a ride and I wont be able to get her out of the car. Should I start prepping her? How and what do I say to her to make her understand its not going to hurt?

thank you

I would start preparing. Explain why she is having it, and that she has had them before. My daughter was 4.5 when she had hers. She is the type that has to know everything beforehand. I told her that she would not feel it, and she would be sleeping. It went much better than I thought it would. She was really nervous in the beginning, but they gave her some meds in her iv to calm her down until the procedure time. Good luck, I hope everything goes well.
