Hi everyone.
I have been on Lexapro for a few years now. After being on meds for 8 years total, I am ready to wean off.
I was on 10 mgs, once a day. For several months, I cut down to 5 mgs a day, then 2.5 mgs a day, then 2.5 mgs every 2 days and now I am done. It's taken me about a 18 months or so.
My last 2.5 mgs was on Saturday. I keep getting a weird sensation in my ears (could be my allergies, too) where I feel like a closing sensation where my ears and throat meet and I feel like a brain "zap". Only way to describe it.
It's starting to make me nuts or think something is seriously wrong.
Help. Anyone out there ever experience anything like this with Lexapro cessation or ANY med cessation? How did you cope? Is there hope????
Thank you!

I had the brain zaps when going off Effexor...it's normal and can last up to 3 months...but they will go away. If you start feeling suidical or anything...call 911. But most withdrawal symptoms are harmless...you may feel dizzy or get headaches or be tired.

I was the same way when I came off of Paxil, for a few months now on Prozac. Just a side effect. but pink is right if you feel suicidal definately call 911

Thanks, Pink & Hotdam. I've had this feeling before. Otherwise I'm fine! I feel more "myself" not having them in my system. I feel more extremes emotionally which feels better than feeling flat.
