I wonder if someone out there can help me. I have only been taking Gugulipid for about a month. Have not had blood work since that time. Have any of you heard anything about this product? Has anyone tried it?
If so, What were the results. I have heard alot of positive info on this product, but yesterday a friend told me they read a negative article while in the Doctor's office. I am concerned. Please give me any advice you may have. Thanks Alot!

I had been taking Gugulipid along with Policosanol for approximatley six months.
Neither supplement controlled my cholesterol levels. Previously I had been on one of the Statins which did control my cholesterol levels, although my HDL's were low.
I had to stop taking Statins because of muscle pain.

I too had high hopes for these two products. There is serious clinical data supporting the claims. However, neither worked for me. I have not yet found anyone that took gugul that claims success. Of the several I know that have tried policosanol, only one has indicated a possible benefit.

Oh Phooey,
After reading the policosanol thread, I was all set to run to my neighborhood Vitamin Shoppe.
My hopes are now dashed :mad:

The data seems so compelling that I have to wonder if what we buy from the distributors is actually the same as what is being used in these clinical tests. Almost all gugul clinical studies have been performed in India and almost all policosanal studies have been conducted in Cuba. Maybe what they are using is not what we are buying.

I did tried gugulipids but in conjunction with beta sitosterol and soy isoflavone extract.
Date TC HDL LDL trig
April/6 250 49 171 149
June/7 253 55 182 78
As you can see, HDL went up 12% but LDL also went up 6%. The amazing thing is the triglyceride number. It went down 48%.
I couldn't tell you which supplements cause which to go up or down. I did limited execise but did reduce my carb. intake.
I am still searching for the magic supplement to reduce my TC.

No mystery on the LDL going up. The crazy equation is such that as trigs go down, LDL goes up.
LDL=TC-HDL-(trigs/5)
