hey everyone! i'm taking ortho tri cyclen lo and i just started takin it last month. i'm on my period right now, the 3rd part of the pills (dark blue). i have one more i have to take before taking the green pills which are the placebo pills. can i start a new pack and skip the placebo pills? are the placebo pills necessary?? thanks!

If you start a new pack and do not take the placebo pills then you won't have your period.
The placebo pills are there to remind you to take your pill when you are having your period.
I too am on OTC-LO and have not taken the placebo pills, but I didn't start a new pack. I waited the week.

Actually taking the pills isn't necessary, as KDD 26 said, but you still need to wait a week before starting the next pack. If you were hoping to skip the pills and start right on the next pack to avoid having a period, that doesn't work on a tri-phasil pill. You would most likely end up spotting.

so if i do take the green pills, would it help stop the period? because i'm still on it and it's been 7 days already haha. or if i skip the green pills and wait a week to start a new pack, is there a chance of pregnancy?

Okay, I just read around and found out that you're supposed to have your period during placebo week. I haven't taken the green pills yet but I've already had my period since last sunday. But also i heard it's off the first few time taking the pills and I've just taken the pills last month since this is my first pack ever. I have had unprotected sex but I've taken my pills everyday at the exact time and never missed any pills AND i've waited 10 days before having unprotected sex... sry i'm just kinda scared because everybody said they got their period during placebo week and I was wondering y mine was early and is my period going to last 2 weeks???
