I have high cholesterol - 240 and low triglycerides. Doc put me on Lipitor. Can I have low trigs and high cholesterol? If so, how can this be?

Sponsor phja 09-17-2003, 11:31 AM yes, it is possible. my cholesterol is 281 and my trigs are 65. thats the way its always been with me. your ldl is probably high...thats whats making your total high. the doctors don't like that ldl high. the trigs are measured independant of the total. Magpiezoe 09-18-2003, 04:57 PM Hello, Yes, my family is the same. Both I and my sister had high cholesterol and low trigs. We have to watch our Total fat and exercise. Even the "good fats" push both our HDL and LDL up. I wonder if it has to do with some "good fats" still have traces of the "bad fats" in them. I've noticed that my olive oil has sat. fat in it too. I still substitute the "good fat" for the "bad fat," but I don't overdue the total fat intake. ------------------ Magpie |
