I have been on Lipitor since '98. I felt like my brain was in a fog. Had lower back pains and pains in the backs of my legs. Had severe memory problems and thought I was depressed. The worse thing was the overwhelming fatigue. After seeing several doctors who could not explain these symptons or who prescribed anti-deppressants, I began to realize that maybe it was the lipitor. So I have been off it for 3 weeks now and I feel almost wonderful. Not quite where I was before lipitor, but the change has been so drastic I am certain that lipitor was destroying my quality of life. Has anyone else had this experience with this drug?

msco123,
I was on Lipitor for about a year and a half.
I was taken off by my Dr. At this time I am not taking any medication at all. The doctor thought I had a problem with my gall bladder( passing what is called a common duct stone)but in the same diagnosis they noticed a substance in or on my liver. This could have happened by the medication Lipitor.

I have muscular aches and pains that I think Lipitor was responsible for. I am to go back to the doctor in Nov. and probably be put on some type of drug. I also have some leg pain due to poor circulation the doctors say. The circulation problem remains some what foggy to me. Until I return to the doctor I will just try dieting on my own.

msco,

I've done lipitor for almost 4 years now with no problems and superb lipid results.
Last June I had surgery and received some antibiotics which should NOT have been taken with Lipitor. I've developed some serious knee, shoulder pain that I'm not sure whether to tie to the Lipitor.
Afraid to go off....afraid to stay on.
I guess I'll do a month without the Lipitor then go back on and see what happens to the knees and shoulder.
I don't want to willy-nilly abandon something that helped take my TC/HDL of 10 down to 3. After all, knee-pain-however excruciating- never killed anyone (unless jumping away from a runaway bus) but heart disease certainly has.

i have been taking cholesterol meds for about 13 years now, my cholesterol is HIGH, hence i have taken just about all types of cholesterol meds. I have never had any physical symptoms from any of them except when taking 80mg lipitor i have experienced an occasional calf cramp.
I have had 2 occasions in those 13 years when labs indicated out of range for internals and had to stop taking meds for about 2-3 weeks, otherwise I guess I have been lucky or else I would have to live with cholesterol on average around 300-400 and triglycerides about 1200-2000. (if i ate only lettuce and oatmeal, and excercised 8 hours a day 7 days a week, the above numbers would not be unusual for me......)
