My ex-husband has informed me they have found a mass on his esophagus. This man has been the picture of health his whole life, he's 31, until he became a firefighter about two years ago. There is no cancer in his family and he's never smoked a day in his life, nor is he a drinker. A biopsy is being done in a couple of days. What are the chances this may be cancer? What else could it be?

The mass in his esophagus could be caused by acid reflux (GERD). It could be cancer, but wait for the biopsy. If it hasn't spread, they can do surgery. God bless and keep us informed.

I looked on the net and the GERD seemed to be the most logical. He said he doesn't feel it although he said he does regurgitate just a bit sometimes when he eats. Thanks for the reply!
