PLEASE HELP, we are going on a long vacation trip this saturday. About 5 hours! My baby is now 23 lbs. and wondering if I can start putting her front facing on a car seat? If so, what brand is good to buy? Are there any car seat that are reasonable yet very safe. The marathon britax is the best rated but I can't afford that! :) but whatever takes as long as my baby is safe out there onthe road. Please suggest.

Graco makes a pink carseat that is also airline approved that I am interested in buying, I am unsure of the line. I have a black Evenflo carseat that I love but it is not airline approved and that wasn't something I thought about before. The pink one is available at Target and stores like that.

I use an evenflo carseat. The best feature is the handles on the side that allow you to adjust the straps without taking the entire seat apart. You may want to consider keeping your little one facing backwards for the trip though. The reason I suggest this is because not all kids think it's suddenly great to face forward. My daughter freaked and she cries all the time since being turned around a month ago. My sons were fine with it. Since it's such a long car ride, if she's happy facing backwards, I might think about keeping her that way.

We have the Cosco Alpha Omega deluxe car seat. It is a 3 stage, goes from brand new baby rear facing, then forward facing at 1 year old then eventually turns into a booster seat. Here in Ontario it was $180.00 at Walmart. It is fantastic. My son who's a year now loves it. He especially loves forward facing now. It's a whole new world for him now!!!

I suggest the Britax Boulevard. Although it is expensive I think it is well worth it. It is safe, easy to put in the car and easy to adjust. I think they go for $300 in the stores but I found a good sale online for $200 so it was a good deal. So I highly recommend this car seat. Good Luck!!!

I have a Cosco Scenera for my 3 year old. I absolutely love it.

BTW, you dont have to (and really shouldnt) forward face just because your babe turned 1 year old. DS is going on 33 pounds and is still rear facing. The longer you can rear face the better!
