My son is 6 days old and is very gassy. I am nursing and try to eat very bland foods. Is anyone else experiencing or experienced this and does anyone have any suggestions???

Congratulations on your son AND your decision to nurse!!! You rock, girl!

Just be sure you burp him really thoroughly after and if need be, during each feed. I had to stop and burp my son between breasts and sometimes every few minutes.

We had to stand up and walk around with him propped over the shoulder to get him to burp. He never did go for the whole sitting propped forward on the knee position. We also had good luck burping him prior to feedings as well. You'd be surprised at how much gas these babies hold!

Hang in there, it will get easier, I promise!! Just savor this time with him now no matter how sleep deprived you are because it goes by SO fast. My son is now 10 months and I just can't even believe it.

Thank you very much! We are going to try burbing him more often - I do it between breasts and after he eats but we will even incorporate other times to when I am just holding him. I am enjoying every minute - even the gassy ones! This is my last child (first was 11 years ago) so my whole focus is on him - I said to my sister my job is mom and milk provider right now :)

Do you think the foods I eat may be contributing? The doctor says no, they don't, but I am unsure about that....any thoughts? My sister recommended Mylacon drops - any thoughts on those?

What are you eating? My babies were very sensitive and I had to watch alot. No dairy at all for me. What veggies are you eating? Many of those can cause gas. Orange juice is another...acidic things can cause it. I even wrote down everything I ate for a couple of days to see if I could see a pattern. Look back at what you ate about 4 hours prior to the nursing/gassiness. See if you can attribute to anything you've eaten. Mylacon drops didn't really do anything for my kids, but some people swear by them.

Good Luck.
