View Full Version : worried

A few days ago I was in a store shopping. When I was ready to leave, I got a drink out of a cooler by the checkout. When I went to shut the door, I accidently cut my toe on the bottom of the cooler door. My toe started bleeding right away. At the time I didn't think anything of it and I check out and left the store. By the time I got home, my toe had stopped bleeding. It was then that I started thinking that someone else could have cut themselves the same way I did just a few minutes before I got there. Now I am afraid that I could have possibly gotten AIDS from it. I haven't been able to get that thought out of my mind. I am currently pregnant and I am worried about my baby. Does anyone think that I have a reason to be concerned or am I just being very paranoid.

By the way, I do have OCD and I have been off my medicine due to my pregnancy.

You are just being very paranoid. I assume you were seeing a therapist who prescribed you medicine for your OCD. Perhaps you should discuss this with them if it continues to concern you.

You have no reason to worry. If people got infected that way (by cutting themselves on things in stores, outside, in the mall, etc.) there would be a lot of people infected with AIDS. I would rest at ease. It's very rare and maybe even impossible to get it that way. I don't even know if AIDs can survive outside the body...But I hope this helps and good luck with your pregnancy http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif! Take care.
