I'm worried I may be infected with AIDS. I haven't had ANY sexual contact or taken drugs. I masturbated and swallowed my own semen, and I keep posting on different boards about this and everyone keeps posting there's no chance of being infected that way. But I keep worrying I'm infected, is there ANY chance of me being infected by swallowing my own semen? And I always feel guilty after masturbating . . .

I just wanted to tell you that THERE IS NO WAY you can have HIV. For you to become HIV positive you have to come into contact with the virus. You have only come into contact with yourself. I think that maybe you are feeing this way because you are feeing guilty about what you have done. And you really shouldn't anyway. So relax and rest assured that you do not have HIV.

Actually, I think I have HIV because of my symptoms:

1. I think I may have swollen lymph nodes in my abdomen, but I went to the doctor (pediatrician) and they did an X-ray and said I was just constipated. So I've been taking metamucil since April and I keep doing bowel movements, but the swelling in my abdomen hasn't gone away. I don't think I'm constipated, my bowel movements were soft but have been hard since taking metamucil. So if the pediatrician did an x-ray and checked, could the doctor still be wrong?

2. I took a urine test, not for AIDS, but just a normal urine test. The doctor said nothing was wrong.

3. I took a blood test for Anemia and Mono and the doctor said both were negative.

4. I've had night chills and sweats.

5. I've had a cold, cough, & sore throat.

6. I'm always feeling very hot but the thermometer says my temperature's normal . . . So should I still worry about HIV/AIDS or my symptoms? I've had them since March and they haven't gone away . . .

CALM DOWN! I've written to you before telling you there's no way you could have the disease. You have had NO sexual contact and never done drugs, therefore there is NO CHANCE of you having HIV or AIDS. Therefore, from swallowing your own semen, you CAN NOT have the disease. If you did have HIV, which you do NOT, you could swallow your own semen as much as you want to because you would already be infected anyway. Unless you have come in contact with someone else's semen, vaginal fluids, blood, or breast milk, you have absolutely no chance of having the disease or any other STD. So you are totally fine. When you worry yourself (and trust me I know how it feels when you think you have something), you can actually give yourself symptoms. You're telling yourself you have AIDS, so your body may produce symptoms because you're making your body think you really do have the disease when you don't. As soon as you calm down and realize it's impossible that you have the disease, the symptoms will most likely go away, and you'll realize how dumb you were worrying so badly. If they don't go away, you could have a billion other minor things. HIV symptoms are that of several other illnesses, too. I hope this helps and stop scaring yourself to death! Btw, you've done nothing wrong in masterbating and swallowing your own semen. I admit, that's off because I've never heard of a guy doing that before but it's not a big deal. Go get an HIV test. That will solve your dilemma

i am sorry but i think you need to worry more about your mental health. there are so many people out there with serious health issues. you are not one of these people. it is perfectly natural to masturbate and i don't know how to comment on the swallowing of semen part, but i think you may need to talk to someone about these irrational thoughts fears and urges. there is no reason for you to feel guilty nor is there any reason for you to live in fear of being ill. i think you need to get mental help to learn how to control these issues before you get older and they control your life. some people habe a disorder in which they only feel normal if they find away to feel sick, and that may be how you are harboring your guilt.

You cannot get HIV from masturbating.

You cannot get HIV from swallowing your own semen.

You do not have HIV symptoms.

If the worry continues, get tested, but you are NOT at risk for HIV. Period.
