Frank input needed. About 6.5 weeks ago I was dating a girl for a few weeks and had unprotected intercourse with her twice (6.5 weeks ago). About 10 days after our encounter, I developed a funny feeling in my abdomen. Thought maybe it might be a Bladder Infection. It then went away after a few days. About 4.5 weeks later (2 weeks ago), I developed moderate pain in my lower abdomen and testicles. No discharge or any noticeable pain in urination. Went to see my GP who then did swabs, urine analysis and blood test. Remember, this is after 4.5 weeks since sexual encounter. He then prescribed Doxycycline (vibramycin) anti-biotic for about 10 days to clear up this bacterial infection. The swabs and urine tests came back negative, don't know if it was some kind of unidentifiable bacterial infection, feels normal again after the round of anti-biotics. Hiv test is still oustanding since the 13 of June..they say it takes a while and the provincial lab would fax the doctor asap if there were any problems (dunno if that is true....kinda getting worried as the test is not back). Tests didn't reveal any kind of identifiable std...weird.. At 5.5-6 weeks, (half way thru the treatment), I started to feel a little week, possibly with a sore throat...glands seemed normal. Now 6.5 weeks (few days later), the last day or two I have been feeling a little lethargic (however, was able to do 20 mins of cardio yesterday)...but today as the day progressed i got noticeably tired and my glands swelled slightly. Weird as one or two days last week I felt tired and not wanting to do much but could still say walk home about 15 mins at a normal pace. While today, I notice my glands are a little swollen, a tiny bit of a sore throat and a minor headache (esp. towards the end of the day)and a slightly sore neck. Noticed this sore neck on Sat. and kept bending it to see if it was sore...maybe that contributed to it. I also notice 1 or 2 bruises on my back they may be due to lifting too much weight on my workbench (they are good sized, located by each shoulder blade). I feel as though I have a shortness breath as well. I also have some whitish stuff covering the back part of my tongue, not so much patchy. Also there is a little bit of yellow in front of that. I assume early HIV symptoms would likely be present for more then a few days.

Are these signs of early HIV? Or...could the last 10 days of this anti-biotic make me feel like crap, maybe weaken my immune system (took the last pill of Doxycyline this morning...took 100mg caps twice a day). Stomach has been a little upset on a somewhat regular basis and a little bit of nausea (symptoms of anti-biotic?) The girl i was with was 21 and had only 2 previous partners (dental hygenist). I am 24 years of age. I told her about the bacterial infection and said it was common to have those especially if you haven't had sex after a while. I do believe she was honest, 1st partner in a 3 year relationship and second one was more physical based, but she said she did use protection (even though not with me) I haven't had any sweats, dirreha or noticeable fever and my underam lymph nodes seem fine.

Thanks for any input. I am getting scared that at 6 weeks the acute virus is coming.

i am in no way an expert on this, all i know is what i've found out today. it seems from what i've been told, that symptoms this early on are very unlikely, but in the same respect not impossible. alot of people go years without any signs or symptoms, and some people do show them. its really a hard thing to say if you are having symptoms of hiv, or symptoms of something else, the best thing to do is get checked twice, just to be on the safe side. i'd get a test done now, and another one in a few months. i know its scarey, but its better to be safe than sorry. i wish you alot of luck and hope you get to feeling better. God bless!
