I went for a HIV test yesterday, I'm realy scared of whats going to happen, I've been making myself sick over this. I've recently had my gallbladder out two weeks ago and I've been throwing up for about 4 days now, I went back to my doctor and supposively its related to my gallbladder. I was diagnosed with chronic prostatitis about 2 1/2 years ago. I was rarely ever sick before, but I was with quite a few women back then and I used protection religiously, I've been married for almost a year now and I've been with only my wife for over two years. I've looked at what the common syptoms are when contracting hiv and I cant recall having any of them. But I cant get it out of my head, I'm scared to death and the anxiety of this is making crazy. I just keep thinking this is the underlying problem of my other health problems, I guess I'll find out but it takes 2 weeks befor the results are in I think I'm going to be mental by then. Please if anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it.

Greensushi,
I know the things that have been happening are very scary for you. However, you did state that you used protection "religiously", right? If, in fact, you were VERY careful with your previous partners re: exchanging bodily fluids (semen, blood, vaginal fluids), and assuming you do not inject iv drugs (sharing needles w/ somone), and you do not engage in unprotected homosexual intercourse....your risks are very low. HIV has to enter through either an open cut,or mix with your bodily fluids in some fashion. Kissing is not a huge deal unless open sores are involved. That's it in a nutshell. I, too was tested and fretted and worried the whole two weeks too. It's a natural reaction to a very scary thing. Relax!!!! Your body goes through a lot when you have surgery and you'll feel a host of things you've never experienced, don't jump to conclusions. If you trust your dr and he's steered you properly before...trust him now! Take care and good luck with your recovery. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

i had asked this in your last post, but i will ask again. where i live its mandatory before a couple gets married to have a hiv/aids test along with other bloodwork. i do not know if it is like that everywhere or just certain places, but do you remember getting bloodwork done before your marriage? do you know if they included the hiv/aids test? i don't think you have anything to worry about, but it is good you are getting checked just to be on the safe side. i wish you alot of luck and i will keep you in my prayers. i know its easier said than done, but try not to worry so much about the results.... i'm sure you will be fine. God bless!

No, It is not manditory to get a blood test in NJ before marriage, it was at one point but it no longer holds true, I would have answered sooner but I have been having problems logging in.
