Hopefully someone there can give me advice on where I should look next. I have had this problem for years but the last year it's been worse. I can't wake up. I sleep the weekends away and even though I sleep 8-9 hours during the week, it's still extremely hard for me to wake up. It takes me hours to fully wake up. My head doesn't clear - I feel like I'm drunk and it's hard for me to concentrate. I also occasionally experience sleepiness when driving and have to pull over and sleep. I've seen a hand-full of doctors and been through a battery of test including blood, thyroid, and a 2-day sleep study. No one can figure out what's causing the problem. I'm currently on hormones to see if it's menapause related but that's not helping much either. I take Allegra and Astelin for allergies and wondered if it could be allergy related although this started long before I started taking allergy medication. I appreciate any suggestions!!

Are you taking meds for any other condition? Some medications are notorious for causing sleep problems and doctors don't think of looking for side effects....my sleep specialist and my primary both missed and later denied that blood pressure medication was causing my sleep problems....but surprise, surprise!! I started sleeping like a baby again when I stopped taking the offending medication.
