Hey everyone! Well I did it, I was tested last Thursday for HIV and am awaiting the results. The thing that puzzled me is what my doctor said. As I asked for the test he smirked at me in a way. I told him I could have been exposed to HIV from my ex-girlfriend last year and that I started to get worried after mouth ulcers and vision loss became present. He said that in this country (Canada) there is no possible way of contracting HIV unless I was involved in anal sex or intravenous drug use. I told him I had never done those activites, just plain heterosexual sex. He said "YOU'RE FINE THEN!" I was confused to hear him say this, even though I've never done those high risk activities, but I don't know if my ex could have with previous partners. What if she did? He never mentioned that if she did those activities then HIV could have been passed to me through heterosexual intercourse.....Is there any good reasoning for my doctor telling me this, or was he just trying to cheer me up? I got the test anyway despite his words of wisdom and am very nervous awaiting the results due to the mixed feelings.
