I was an idiotlast night. Got drunk, had unprotected sex with this girl. No idea about her status, although she may be somehwat promiscuous. Probably was inside her for a grand total of 10 minutes, tops, though. Does anyone know about the odds off female-to-male transmission (not that I have any clue if she has it or not though). Thanks

Dave

Anyone out there reading this?

The transmission rate for female to male transmission during unprotected penis vagina sex is 1 in 1000. If you are concerned about a possible exposure, get tested at 3 months past possible exposure. In the future, use a condom. Don't be an idiot! Stay well, okay?

Is that the rate if they are infected, or just the rate in general. Thank you so much for responding.

Dave-O,

The answer does appear to be about 1 in 1,000 IF she is infected. It's probably unlikely that she is unless she is in a high risk group.

Here's the link: http://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/SafeSex/Archive/TransmissionSexual/Q140415.html

It's at the bottom of the second paragraph of the answer. Personally, I wouldn't loose much sleep over it.

It's definitely a bad idea to brush this off with statistics, because numbers mean nothing once it happens to you.

Unprotected vaginal sex automatically warrants HIV testing (along with the other STDs), point blank period.

I know it's a difficult thing to go through, but denial won't give you any more of an HIV- status.

Get tested (I think you'll have to wait three months for a conclusive HIV test) and play it safe in the future -- use a condom.
