My mum had to have 3 lumber punches last night, can you tell what possible reason are for ghaving them?

I think you mean lumbar puncture. It's when they take a sample of fluid from your spinal cord. There are lots of possible reasons, one of them is to check for signs of infection. I believe in healthy people our spinal cord fluid id clear, if it infected it is cloudy.
