History: 36 yr old female, smoker of 22 yrs, atrial fibrillation, chronic bronchitis for 10 years, and had my first experience with pleurisy a few months ago, which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. My lung was so inflamed and so huge at the time, that my cardiologist had a hard time taking pictures of my heart during an ultra sound.
The last time I had bronchitis was late Dec and I only had a 3 week break to get it again and each time I get it, it usually lasts 6 weeks. Shortly after, I got pleurisy and have healed, but my life hasn't been the same since.
I now have DEEP pain in my throat but it's not the same as the common sore throat from a cold, burning pain in the entire area of my throat/larynx/voice box (it's all in the center of the front of my neck), on and off hoarseness, pain in right jaw and ear, swollen glands at night, problems breathing and swallowing foods and even the slightest bit of water. What's strange is that when I breathe in through my nose, it pains my throat and chest - a burning sensation. And in the beginning of all this mess, I had hoarseness for 5 weeks without a break!
I recently changed doctors because I always felt ignored or blown off, and now it's happening again. Does it sound as serious as I'm thinking? Would you recommend an ENT or a Pulmonary doctor? I'm sorry this is so long, but I'm very worried. Any help would be appreciated.
