I first started testing last December. I've tested 4 total times. I'm taking 4 grams of omega 3 and just started 2 grams of flax seed. I've been on a vegetarian diet since Jan 1st. I know I need to raise my HDL and lower my triglycerides. I haven't been able to exercise much due to back problems. Can anyone suggest anything to help besides statins. I tried a statin, but my liver numbers went through the roof. :mad:Thanks

Your HDL values sort of mirror mine (which I have yet to find a solution for), but your triglycerides are way too high. I'm not sure what the 'cardiac risk' level you mention is, unless you mean HDL divided by total cholesterol. I don't put much stock in that anyway, as it doesn't look at tons of other risk factors.

Cut out all high glycemic foods + wheat, get your vitamin D levels checked, and I'd suggest dropping flax (prostates + flax might not be such good combinations). I also recommend a VAP test, if you haven't gotten one already, c-reactive protein, and H1AC, since your triglycerides are so high. You could be pre-diabetic.

Niaspan probably would be a good medication for you to try. But keep an eye on your liver while taking it. It's not a statin (it's niacin), so you may be okay on it -- some flushing though.
