I am having a bunion removed. I have to arrive at 11:!5 and the surgery is about an hour. I'm having twilight sedation. I just realized that my son has a dr appt on the same day at 4. I can't reschedule his appointment because it is with a ped and it is near impossible to get a yearly check up appointment. Plus I have surgery in 4 weeks and know I can't get a ped appointment between now and then. I know I won't be taking him to the appointment but I want hubby to be able to pick him up from camp and take him. How long do you think the whole recovery room thing will take?

I was at the hospital 5.5 hours for a 20 minute surgery.

Is there anyway to call a favor from a friend or family to take your son in since this is a yearly checkup? You and your hubby are bound to be stressed enough just dealing with the day's events and you may not want to be concerned with another issue. Is there anyone that can help? If you're not comfortable with someone else taking him, is there someone that could sit with you while your husband is out? The first few days you'll really want someone around all the time to help to the restroom, administer meds (I was kinda out of it and not even sure when it was time to take them again), get food/drink and bring ice.

Doesn't taking a child to a dentist appt have to be done by a parent? Or can you give permission in advance?

But, yeah, I think you need some help from somebody else. You can't be alone 5 hours after surgery, and you won't want to spend time hanging out at the dentist office. Plus, let's say you aren't feeling well afterward and they decide to keep you an extra hour?

I called the ped office and they are trying everything to get me another appointment. I explained the whole foot surgery saga. I told them I was willing to take any appointment they could give me. Hopefully it all works out.
