panicattack

In mid November I had a very unfortunate incident with a prostitute. It was the most foolish day of my life. I am married and I am devastated. She kissed me (french) briefly and then she performed oral sex for maybe a minute. As well I fingered her briefly, but she didn't have any fluids present. At the time, I had a cough that went away and then came back in mid December and two weeks ago eventually turned into a dry cough that is slowly going away. I also in week 8 developed a small canker sore that is going away ( had it a week ). As well my underarms hurt..although both in the same place. I went to the doctor yesterday for the cough and told him about the pain under my arms. I didn't discuss my HIV fear with him but He couldn't find any swollen nodes. Other than that I have had no other symptoms. I need to know if this sounds like possible symptoms of the onset of HIV. Don't people usually have flu symptoms with fever if the have symptoms at all. Please advise. Thanks for your help.

I understand your frustration. I am married too and started looking on the internet for all sorts of symptoms and I just believe that I have it. I had an encounter very similar to yours (but with a guy I worked with). My doctor doesn't believe that I have to worry about anything because you don't contract HIV in these ways that you have explained. I have been worrying for months and I finally went to my dr today and got the test done. They said my blood count was normal. I have three agonizing days to go before I know whether my life is going to end or finally go on in peace. If you believe in prayer, pray for me and I will pray for you. I already feel good about going to the drs.... maybe you should too.
Yikes!

The exposures you had seem to be low risk for HIV. I would advise you to:
1) read up on the HIV transmission FACTS
2) stop looking up HIV symptoms (here is okay, because we can give you support)
3) stay in your marriage.
Whether or not you get tested is up to you.
Your wife deserves more than germs from some prostitute, regardless of what kind of marital problems you may currently have. You wouldn't like to find out she exposed you to something by messing around with a hunky coworker.
As for the hookers, you should stay far, far away. You're lucky you weren't arrested. The police run the john sting operation on "Cops" all the time where they get some lady cop to walk the street and bring you back to the hotel where the guy cops spring out from the closet and arrest you.
If you are having marital problems and/or can't get past this HIV fear, you may benefit from seeing a mental health professional.
