First I think that this board is the only thing that has keep me from going completely crazy. Many of you know my story. I have been tested but it was only about 18-20 weeks after i was sick. 18-20 weeks after my exposure. It was female to male. Mainly I am concerned that i contracted HIV by giving oral sex to a female because I brushed my teeth before I did it and maybe after too, i can't remember. May final question is can I live now? Is my 4 1/2 month conclusive? Can i stop feeling around in my neck for lymph nodes? Please I call on everyone to help this last time. Tomorrow is my birthday, so give me a the gift of knowledge for my birthday.

John:

I am very glad your test at 4 1/2 months was negative. I would say that result is pretty much correct and that you do not have HIV. I was talking to a lady who was diagnosed with HIV, and she tested positive at 6 weeks, thats like a month and a half. Its true, some people take long to become positive, but...the majority do from a month to 3 (rarely 6, thats why the CDC lowered the window period to 3 months)

Plus...if you take into account your risk, which is minimal even if it was unprotected and you brushed, does not compare to having unprotected vaginal sex, or unprotected anal.

I hope you find peace soon and live your HIV-negative life with courage and safety.

hey, your chances of becoming positive from giving oral sex are very very very slim... i think there is only one reported case of this type of transmission, and i doubt you will be the 2nd. dont worry johnblue, liek i told you 18-20 weeks is conclusive, 12 weeks would have been conclusive enough. close the book and move on. swollen lymph nodes do not mean HIV. they mean a ton of different things. I said before I get them all the time form sinusitis and i am hiv negative.
