Hi My little boy is almost 7 months old on the 4 of August. His dr. didnt want him eating solids other then rice until he was 6 months old. Well before I knew that I started him on fruit he loved it from the start. Now that we are doing veggies he wont eat ANY fruit! In any form! He starts to gag him self and spits it all back up. My mom and Dr say to just keep giving him fruit every day. It is truly a fight every day. I try to trick him but then that goes bad. He doesnt do this to his veggies. He gobbles them right up eating a whole stage 2 jar a day. He eat rice and oat meal just fine and when he first was eating them at 4 months he love the fruit. The Dr told us to stop giving him fruit so we stopped for 2 months and now we are not able to get him to eat it at all. Any one else have a problem like this or have had? Any advice would be nice. I am about ready to give up fruit all together. Im at my wits end. Please help!

Thanks
Heather

I would say this is good news! He doesnt have a sweet tooth. Dont worry about it to much, a variety of veggies have the same nutrients as fruits and more. I am sure as he gets older he will start to take fruit, perhaps the sweet taste of fruits is a little weird for him and he doesnt know what to make of it. How about mixing some pureed bananas with his cereal, starting with a little bit then gradually mixing in more. Also have you tried making your own baby food? Sometimes th homemade stuff has a different taste to it. Try pureed bananas and formual/breast milk. Have some patience and relax a little! It will be much more enjoyable for the both of you. Good luck

Abby thanks for responding! I have tried putting fruit in his rice, but now that I think about it and that you say it. Maybe im putting in to much. Maybe I need to put in a bit less and just give it a tiny bit of a fruity flavor like you say. Thanks for you advice! Im going to try it tonight!

This might sound a bit gross, but maybe try adding a little fruit to his veggies. Just put in a teeny tiny bit in with each bite so that he doesn't really know at first and then gradually make the switch. Add it to his favorite veggie. I would try applesauce because it's pretty mild. I also find that gerber is a good brand...the beechnut stuff is not so good in my opinion (yes, I taste it!).

Veggies are a lot better than fruit because of the low sugar, be glad he enjoys them more ;)
