I'm taking 25mg of metoprolol twice a day for my blood pressure. Has anyone taken this with niacin? I've heard about the flushing and I'm a little bit worried about mixing the two. I'm also taking ibuprofin, norco, and flexiril. Thanks

I can't say I've taken metoprolol with niacin, but I have taken Niaspan + cardevilol (Coreg). I assume your doctor said it was okay to take them both? I suppose the main thing to look out for is an unusual drop in blood pressure/hypotension. Coreg does that to me sometimes even without niacin.

I know what you mean about the blood pressure drop. I fainted in a restaurant once while taking Nifedical. I feel better on the Metoprolol. As for my cholesterol, I can't take statins. My doctor wants me to try Welchol, but all the reading I've done points to try Niacin. I know I need to watch my liver numbers close.

I've been taking metoprolol with niaspan for years. No problems whatsoever.

Since they put the orange coating on the Niaspan a year or so ago, I've had no problems with flushing.

Thanks for your reply Connie it's very helpfull. I need to work on my hdl, ldl and triglycerides. It's so difficult to align these numbers where they should be.
