These are my numbers TC 240,Triglyceride 227,hdl 56,my doc didnt put me on anything right away because he said my hdl numbers balance out my other numbers. But he did warn me that i need to bring my TCdown by the next tests which will be done in september.I heard that diet and exercise can effect cholesterol levels.I just started the atkins diet and am now working out at the gym 3x wk.If i start to take the red rice yeast capsules, how long will it take before i see a change in my numbers?I would prefer to not take statins again if possible.Would appreciate all and any opinions.Thankyo.Take care.:)

Hi Suzy
I don't know if you have been following my advice on RYR, including brand and dosage on this board or not, but to summarize:
Don't take just any old RYR, go for a tried and tested brand. The brand I know that works well is, Nature's plus extended release formula.
One 600mg or 2 x 300mg mini tablets taken in the evening WITH food is all you need.
Ensure that you supplement RYR with 100mg Coenzyme q10. There is no proven onset of muscle problems associated with RYR, but all people react differently to foods, drinks, drugs, vitamins etc. So, play safe.
You will see results from six to eight weeks, reducing to a level reading of LDL, TC and Trigs after approximately six months.
If you require any further info associated with this supplement, drop me a line.
Your HDL is very good, which gives you a low risk of CVD using TC/HDL ratio.
Your Trigs are high and can also be brought down with the RYR.
If after two months the trigs remain high, again drop me a line.
