Hello all,
On July 7th my stomach was bothering me bloating gas and diarea all day. It continued and so on July 8th I go to Urgent Care, DR says it's probably a stomach virus, to eat broth, for a few days.
I do and feel a little better, so I eat on July 14th symptoms come back worse
painful gasy feeling bloating, I'm also burping a lot.
I go to my Primary care on 15th says maybe gall bladder but does not test gives me antbiotics for possible bacteria infection.
On July 16th my stomach feels a little better (bloating) but having some back pain, so not taking any chances go to the ER they do X rays say everything looks ok, so off I went.
Now I get sharp pains in the upper middle of my stomach, does not last long maybe a few seconds, but is scary feel it to my right shoulder.
Ok so i have not ate anything other than toast, crackers, and white rice which caused some pain.
I called the ER and want to get my Xrays to see them. But feel stupid to go back to my primary care if the ER says there is nothing wrong??
Did they Miss something.... do i ask for a certain test?
I have not ate real food since 07/05...today is 07/27
Any Advice Welcomed.

Bloating is usually caused by the friendly intestial bacteria being out of balance like a yeast/ candida infection. To rebalance the good bacteria -- you need to eat a good brand of yogurt and take some probiotic supplements.
Unfriendly bacteria thrive on a sugary diet and carbs are converted to sugar and that is all you are eating.
So, you have to reduce or eliminate sugar from your diet for a while until the friendly bacteria gets OK. Antibiotics and too much salt can also kill off good bacteria.

Thank you so much for the advise,
Your right all I have been eating is Carbs, and salt (pretzels)
I had a male yeast infection on my "X" (sorry ladys & gents) a couple months back I wonder if it is related the Dr said I just got it for some weird reason.? It took forever to get rid of different creams blah blah and was ugly.
The stomach thing is making me feel like I'm making it up in my head, if the ER said everything is ok, but that sharp quick pain makes me reconsider.
Maybe the quick sharp pain is a phantom due to stress and scared after i eat...I read about gall bladder attcks and they seem to last a lot longer than a couple seconds.
Thanks again i think i'm going crazy.

Yes, gb attacks generally last hours, not seconds. And Xrays will not show anything to do with the gb. The test for gallstones is an ultrasound and the test for low functioning gb is a HIDA Scan. Did anyone do any blood work? An elevated billirubin can indicate gb problems.

The Bilirubin was in normal range I think 1.0 Bilirubin (Total) (direct) 0.1

hvcsd,
Your bloating and gas did not come out of no where--- Taking antibiotics kill off the good bacteria as well as the bad bacteria and when the bad bacteria is more in control --- most foods will cause bloating -- all sugar and carbohydrates cause the bacteria just to thrive-- your PCP can't test for it because having the friendly as well as some unfriendly bacteria is just normal.
I think you have a yeast/ candida infection that is cured by anti-fungal drugs and an anti candida diet.

Hi all,
There going to do a ultra sound on 7/31...if gall bladder looks normal, I will ask about antifungal medication... they dont have a test for that?
I mentioned yeast to the dr today, didn't get much re-action. Will be more assertive. today is a bad day, back hurts, stomach feels like it's going to explode.

A sign of candida overgrowth is thrush-- is your tongue coated white?
Or does it have white spots on it?

my tounge has some whiteness, I recently asked DR, said not thrush. I had the Ultra Sound done, waiting for Friday to get the results and speak to DR. Will keep you all updated.
Dr did give me Cipro, not sure if that will help second day on it no results.
If continues, will just walk into ER and tell them to keep me until they figure out what is wrong.

Hi hvcsd,
Be careful with Cipro it has many side effects. Read the Warnings Very carefully and follow them!!
An ER does not work like you think. Their job is basically to Save people in Emergency situations that are Critically Sick -- and once that job is done -- they release you to go home. That is it. They cannot admit you to the hospital -- that has to be done by your Doctor with Doctor's Orders of the diagnosis and the tests that are to be run.
LA hospitals work the same as here in Charleston. Nothing is done in a hospital without a Doctor ordering it be done!!
Sorry---Harry

Hi all, my ultra sound showed no gall stones, the Dr is sending me to a gastro, I just dont know what to eat, i have lost 7lbs.
Now that they did the Ultra Sound can i rule out the Gall Bladder completely??
And come to the conclusion it's a yeast/bacteria infection? Or is there still a chance it could still be the Gall Bladder?

Hi there. Ask your doctor to perform a HIDA scan with ejection fraction. It is possible to have a sick gallbladder without gallstones. I suffered with similar symptoms for quite awhile. My PCP ordered a HIDA scan. My ejection fraction came back at 8.3% (anything below 35% is abnormal). Once I got rid of my gallbladder, the pain, bloating, belching, etc. went with it. Good luck to you.

I'm going to call my DR to ask for the HIDA scan on Monday, could my Bilirubin be in normal range and the gall bladder still be not working?
Also how long does it take to get the HIDA results back?
This is insane up all night with this problem, just wondering how long will I have to suffer before I find out results after I take the test.

Hi there. I hope you were able to get a HIDA scan with ejection fraction scheduled today. It took about two days for my doctor to call me back with the results, however I was in to see the surgeon in less than a week. All of my bloodwork came back "normal." You're not going to get alterations in your bilirubin unless there is blockage (ie: a stone lodged somewhere) in your biliary tract. Good luck.

Update,
I called my DR asked for the HIDA scan, he said he will put the referal in, said he was not sure if The Gastro would have to request for my HMO to approve, but put it in anyway, still waiting for the referal to see the Gastro.
He also said that sometimes they can see that the wall of the Gall Bladder looks bad by the Ultra sound, and mine looked good so the dr seemed kind of bothered that I asked.
I think it's my Gall Bladder but I guess i will find out eventualy, I hope to have all this taken care of by the end of this Month.
I feel good when i dont eat, then it tricks me to think im ok and then I try to eat and the boating, gassy, back pain comes back.
If it is my Gall Bladder what can i eat right now so it does not bother my stomach?

HIDA Scan tomorrow Monday,
kind of nervouse about the test, if this is not my gall bladder, then im gonna be probably more worried. I'v lost some weight and family seems a bit worried, as i'am. Symptoms same bloating gassy feeling if i eat, some stomach sharp pain and feels like spasims in my back sometimes.
I ate half a turkey sandwich 99% fat free with a little mustard.on Friday, had bloating and gassy feeling all day on Saturday. Weird how it takes so long for the symptoms to appear.

Update,
Hida scan showed normal 35%..PCP referred me to Gastro, cant get appt until Sept.19th!
I received all my test results and noticed on the Ultra Sound I had earlier,
it said I had a "tiny gallbladder pylop" Why was I told this earlier by my PCP???
Could this be the problem? Is this ok? I will have to search some threads.

Muscle spasms are usually caused by a lack of magnesium in your system -- every cell contains magnesium and 66% is in the bones.
An excellent remedy for spasms as well as cramping is a homeopathic remedy -- Magnesia Phos -- 6X potency -- taken as needed --. It takes about 35 minutes to kick in and can be repeated. It can be bought at Health Food Stores.
But, it does not replace the overall lack of magnesium in your system--- the daily requirement is -- 400mgm.
Magnesium is present in lots of foods but for some reason it is not well absorbed and also it is readily depleted in your urine.
It is certainly worth a try because your body needs it anyway for enzymes production and calcium absorption cannot be done w/o magnesium and vitamin D.

I personally don't agree with your Doctor.
I would like to know where your Gastro Doctor gets his information--what in organic yogurt is a toxin?
My experience with Gastro Doctors spans 25 years(1983) and they generally have very little training/education in nutrition medicine of course there are exceptions but they are trained in practice of regular medicine.
I have been treated by 11 Gastro MDs in my life from San Francisco to the East Coast.
And, right now if I needed 1 where live-- I really don't know 1 that I would go to-- I find that not so Good!!!
The best I have found --- retired several years ago.

Update,
Doing better all, day 6 of yogurt and probiotics, still having some muscle spasms, and minor bloating..but a improvement. Hoping this is working. Hoping for this to be my last post on this subject unless a change happens.
Thank you all for your support!
Also my gastro doc suggested for me to continue to lose weight and said to learn from the SB Diet.
I have HCV and fatty liver so have to start taking better care of myself.

Xcharla,
I have those same yellow/orange marks on my lids as well. My doctor told me the same, that it is sometimes a sign of high cholesterol. My levels are fine. I've had it for years, and just ignore it, but if you find some other explanation, or if I do, let's post it!
I'm also having trouble with my "gallbladder" (I had it out in 05, but still have lots of pain!!!).
