Worry
01-28-2003, 01:53 PM
Is a rash like hives something to worry about? The woman I am seeing has been dianogised with hives. I began to worry that I have maybe given her HIV. I have been tested and it was negative but a rash is an early symptom and I can not help to think that the rash is HIV related. Can someone help! I worry and compulse over this!

Thank you!

Rash is not a symptom exclusive of HIV, only about 50% of infected people show up with it at the acute phase, and its intensity ranges from hardly noticeable to very visible rash, usually non-itchy. In conclussion, rash may or may not be a symptom.

Furthermore, if you have tested negative, that means you do not have HIV, and HIV cannot be transmitted if there is no transmissor. So put your mind at rest man, you are fine, your girl is fine.

If you tested at around 90 days of your encounter before this woman, then you do o thave HIV. However just to protect yourself in he future, how do you know this woman doesn't have anything before she met you?
Have safe sex until you both decide to get tested again.

A lot of people have hives. Hives can also mean that she is allergic to something. I have a condition called Uticaria and have been on Zyrtec for 5 years. Uticaria is no sign of HIV.

Relax. If you are HIV Negative, then do the math: a negative multiplied by a negative is a negative. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
