Hi everyone. New here. Just started on lamictal and having terrible nightmares. Paranoia, headaches dizziness, confusion among other things. I am on 50 mg and on week 4 of my starter pack. besides all side effects my mood is much better.;) but I was wondering when these side effects/or if they will end.

Also I am extremely itchy. NO rash though.. Thank you for taking the time to read this:)

These definitely do not sound like normal Lamictal side effects. You really should call your pdoc about this.

Yes, call your pdoc right away. It may not be the drug for you. I take it, almost no side effects, except some itchiness, which gets better after each increase.

Christina,

I thought I'd go mad with the itching at first. It has almost stopped now.

My pdoc prescribed an anti-histamine for when it was really bad, and that did help. I had asked about Benadryl, but she said Vistaril was the med that would help.

Maybe that might be worth a try for you?

It really is interesting how different meds affect different people...I've been on Lamictal for months, am up to 300mg now, and have never had an itching problem. Besides a bit of agitation when I first started I"ve had no side effects at all.
