How long should I wait after unprotected sex before getting tested for STI's?

Thanks

Some STDs can show up pretty quickly - within 2 weeks, like syphilis - and others like HIV need months before an accurate test can be taken.

Typically, it's 2-8 weeks for the most common ones.

You shouldn't wait.. I got tested for mine straight after as soon as I got any sypmtoms like burning sensation when passing water.
I had a swab test as soon as i got back from thailand I took the pills for gonnorhea and chlamidia just incase then the symptoms went away..
I have recently been feeling like sh*t dizzy and runny nose..
I had a HIV test 2 years after going to thailand I should be getting the results today.

The earlier you know the better..
I know you cannot have a HIV test untill 3 months after exposure.
Say you had sex with a HIV+ there is PEP treatment Post Exposure Treatment in which after about a week they can clear it up..
I'mno expert but i have been reading up and worrying about it for 2 years and if the Germs don't kill me ANXIETY will!!
I was speaking to a HIV + guy today online and he sees it as being just like having diabetes or something... it's not that bad.. but treatable
They can test for almost everything else right away

the thought that this disease is now controlable with drugs. People say don't worry, its like having diebetes. My friiends brother has AIDS, he takes twenty + pills a day to stay alive and they give horrible side effect. it sounds like people are saying, dont worry about it theres medication to treat this. forget having kids and we still live in the stone age where some people think you can catch it by shaking hands. Another thing, Diebetes is not contagious. it freaks me out cuz more people with this disease may give it knowingly to others thinking no worries medication can prevent you from dying. What a copout.
