I'm 32 years old. I have a ringing in my left ear. I decided to go have it checked out. My audiogram results showed both ears are good from 250Hz to 2000Hz (ie 10-20HL dB) then from 2k to 4k both drop down to 65 HL dB....that explains why I have trouble hearing my wife :D my hearing climbs back up to aprox. 45 HL dB at the 8000Hz end of the graph.
My question is, will my hearing get worse if I don't get a hearing aid immediately like my audiometrist suggests? Is he trying to push me into buying aids I just can't afford right now. I'm looking forward to getting aids and having my hearing back, but two years or so would be a more practical time frame for my budget.
He reckons its a case of if you don't stimulate whats left now it will get worse quickly. Day to day I get by fine how it is at the moment.
Thanks,
