GERD can cause the same things you listed. So, it might not be GB. They can do a HIDA Scan to test it's function/output. It's usually a stone blocking a bile duct that causes the pains if it's GB related.

Try going to a low fat/healthy fat diet and eating apples, beets, etc (major search for Gallbladder Diet) for a few weeks and see if things improve. Avoid the trigger foods. That might get you some relief either way.

If a low fat diet helps, you need to stick to that. But GERD is not caused by gb problems. Another thing to keep in mind is that since the gb is full of stones, it is damaged. THe gb constricts to spew bile into your digestive system to digest fat. When it constricts, it clamps down on the stones, which are spiney, and that causes damage to the gb itself. Eventually it can become infected and then rupture. You don't want to be in that situation where you have to have emergency surgery.

It sounds like you have classic gallbladder symptoms. Yes, the gallbladder can cause GERD like symptoms. It has to do with the timing of the release of bile and/or fat going through your system that has not been broken down by the bile.

I had all sorts of issues like diarrhea, unusual abdominal noises when I laid down at night, burning feeling in the area of the stomach--was on prilosec for awhile which seemed to settle down the digestive tract.

Now that my gallbladder has calmed down due to treatment all the abdominal symptoms have disappeared.

yeah im in no hurry to get it out...........i just hope the protonix im on twice daily will actually start doing something........so i can get well agian withour taking my gallbladder out.............i have read that gallbaldder operations can cause relfux anyway cause of the bile, so not keen on having gerd and then have an operation only to end up with gerd and bile relfux..

thanks guys i think i will wait for coulpe months to see how i go with PPI and natural stuff

I had my gallbladder removed and now I have nausau, belching, and tightness around the waist - gasterologist thinks it is a stone that was left behind. This has been pure hell for me.
