Hi,
I am a 21 year old guy. And I need a lending ear as I am scared to death, Well you see on 24 Dec 2002, I had unprotected sex with a 19 year old girl, who I only knew for a few hours. I was piss drunk & she brought me over to her place & we had sex. After that a few weeks later I found myself having some discharge and went to see a doc immediately and he told me it was chlamydia. Well I have recovered from it & then comes the next bomb blast from my friend, saying that the girl I had sex wif was having HIV, But said he only heard it from peoples. I really do not know what I am suppose to do, I am very scared. I pray to myself that I do not have HIV. But my friends told me to have blood test but it is only less then 2 months. Pls advice me???

anyone

I understand your fear. If it has been two months, go ahead and get tested anyway, the result will not be conclusive, but if it is negative, it will be very encouraging, since most people who are going to seroconvert do so within 4-6 weeks.

Your other option is a PCR test which is a very sensitive test that detects the virus itself, this after 28 days post exposure. It is pretty expensive, and usually not recommended but if negative, it would definitely put your mind at ease.

Hope you are OK. Please never mix alcohol with sex, very dangerous combination.

Well I did take my 6 week test and, Thank God. It came back Neg, But I am still worried as I will be taking my 3 month test again on 24.03.2003. Well I hope that too come back neg. And then I shall not repeat the same mistake again. But I still worried although I am not having any kinds of symtoms. Well guys thanks for your support & pray for me.

Chlamydia is MUCH easier to transmit than HIV. So don't panic. Just because you contracted an STD does not mean you have HIV. Your 6 week test is somewhat accurate but you need to test in another month or so for 100% accuracy.

If your test was 13 weeks after exposure and you have had no other unprotected sexual experiences, then you are fine.

Scared your test is accurate after 90 days. If its negative, stop worrying and move past this.
