Hello everyone, several of you have helped me in the past so I want to say thanks. I had been complaining about energy levels and have started Provogil 200mg to help with that. For me something just gave and I decided that I cant keep taking so many drugs. I had told you before that my pain with oxy is about a 3 and without about a 4 - 5, several of you had commented that I was lucky it was so low and there are many of you who suffer from 7+ with medication, I could not imagine that. I think I have come to terms with my pain, since its mine and its not going away I guess I have to deal with it. Im no longer willing to dull all of my senses and be tired all the time. I have tappered down from 60mg to 10mg. Im now taking 10mg at night. Its hard to sleep and I have been having to take sleeping pills to help me sleep, but Im feeling more energy and my pain seems to be more managable than I thought. So wish me luck. I will keep all of you who suffer from such horrible pain in my thoughts.

Just wanted to wish you luck with the rest of your taper. I hope you left a window open with your doc, in case for some reason, down the road, you need to go back on meds. It's just best to know you have that option, I think.
I will say a few extra prayers that things keep going smoothly for you. Take care of yourself. CMP/MM

Hi
I was on loads of different to try and relieve my pain just enough for me to have a life!
In the end i got so fed up because as you say all the senses are dulled and side effects a plenty that i made the decision to come off all my meds and live with the pain.
That was ok until i started a new job which i had to for financial reasons and i wanted something to just take the edge off.
Yet again side effects are a plenty and the pain is still their anyway so am coming down on everything again!
Whats the point of taking meds when they don't help with the pain!

Rob,
The place you are at, the last 10mg, is always accompanied by lack of sleep and restlessness. Totally normal. And you may find that it takes a few months to get to 0. No worries if your doc will allow it. It's just very, very hard.
See if your doc will Rx something for sleep. When going off of pain meds sleep is the very last thing to return to normal. It can take up to a year. You may need the added support. Again, it's totally normal.
I am stopping my Ultram. Over the weekend I've gotten down from 400mg daily to about 200-300 daily, and I expect to be off by next weekend. My system is buoyed by other meds that do essentially the same thing, so it's not like I'm suffering heavy WDs, or anything like that. I think my other pain meds will work better w/o the Ultram.
BTW, nice work.:)

robsahm...i am sorry you have such an issue with pain. it must have been bad at one point to be on so much oxy. if you arent having too much pain, i pray you have strength to get through the withdrawal as it is an addictive drug. my surgery was much simpler than yours (i think you posted on the board of calcaneal surgery) but i did use oxy 2 or 3 times first week. but my pills are only 5mg, i had them on hand for breakthrough migraine. T3 is usual migraine meds. you are a strong person to ease off the meds.
