I am in my 7th week from having protected sex with a postitute...It was the worst decision I have ever made. Is it possible that I could obtain the disease if the condom did not break at all. I had mono in January and it is Now May I have had mono for just about 3 months. Maybe I am over doing my activites and my glands are still larger from the mono or maybe a relapse? I also seem to see floaters in my eyes and have a dry mouth every time i wake up. I have had a lot of stress in my life lately too with school and such. Can anyone help. Anyone think I am a candiate...Surely hope not...Please Help...This is driving me Crazy

AGAIN, no you used a condom. There is virtually no risk. Call the CDC and they will tell you the same thing. HIV does not magically break through condoms. If you are that concerned get a test but I bet it comes back negative.

I know this will not make you feel better, but I must disagree with the last response. HIV can pass through condoms. There are perforated holes in the condom that are actually the approx. size as the virus itself. That's why they suggest using condoms with nonoxynol-9. This kills the virus before it can go through these holes. Does that mean this happens often...NO. It is very, very rare, but the possiblity is there. As for mono, as you probably know, it is very contagious and it never goes away. You will always have it in your system. Like anything else, stress and worry can cause these symptoms to show more often. Try to relax and get tested just for peace of mind!!! I'm sure you are fine.

The condom I used did have noxoly 9 or how ever u spell it. I was reading that if used correctly condoms have a 99.9% rate in protecting against HIV. So it is true if from great stress and worries that my spympotoms of mono can come back? Pleas respond I would grealy appreciate it.

Thanks

Though I'm not a doc, I honestly feel like you are going to be ok. Yes stress can cause flare ups from mono. Just like stress can mimic symptoms of HIV. Are bodies are not machines like most want to believe and we can handle only so much. You've done everything to prevent HIV, so please don't worry. I used protection with someone I knew was HIV+ several years ago and I'm negative. We all make choices in life and yours' was to protect yourself, so don't worry about anything!!!
