Can someone please confirm this. If 2 people who are known to NOT be infected in any way have unprotected sex they cannot contract the virus, but if either one of them then went on to have unprotected sex with someone else, THEN they might run into problems? Thanks.

Oh and also, if someone has blood tests at the hospital for example to see if they are suitable for a drug or whatever reason, would HIV be detected should it be present?

Jonesy,

If 2 people have sex and both are hiv negative, there is no way they can contract hiv. If one of those people has sex with another person and that person has hiv, then yes there is a possibility they could be infected and then infect the other person. Also, hiv can only be detected through a very specific hiv test not by having a general blood test done. I hope this answers your question.

Thank you very much indeed. So there is a 100% probability that 2 negative people can't get it by having vaginal sex? Sorry to be pedantic but I'm sure you understand how people worry. Again, thank you very much for taking the time out to respond, much appreciated.

Jonsey,

The only way you are going to contract hiv is by having sex with someone who is hiv positive or by sharing needles. I am 100% sure of that!!!!!!!

I second that notion!!! this is pretty much the only way, unless you are an infant child or an 80's blood donor recipient!!
